J&K people should live without terror and fear: PDP

Asserting that early solution to Kashmir imbroglio would bring peace and development in the state, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) today said that government should end the reign of terror and fear and the people should be allowed to live in  peace.

“People in Kashmir are living in fear psychosis and this reign of terror and fear must end so that people live with dignity,” Mehbooba Mufti, People’s Democratic Party president said while addressing a mass rally at Parade Ground here.

Ms Mufti said, “indiscriminate arrests have spurred a sense of deep insecurity among the people of Kashmir and the terror should come to an end,” she said adding that PDP in its self rule doctrine has met the aspirations of the people of all the regions of the state. Earlier PDP patron and former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohamamd Sayeed in his address asked the Central Government to ‘resolve Kashmir issue at the earliest’ to usher peace and development in the region.

“The Central Government must ‘wake up’ to this growing need for a solution to the Kashmir crisis as that alone can bring the desired results of peace and development in Jammu and Kashmir,” Mr Mufti  said.

He added that if the Central Government fails to do so, it may trigger resentment among the masses adding, “PDP will fight for an early solution of the crisis gripping the state.”

On National-Conference Congress led coalition government in Jammu and Kashmir, the PDP patron said, “the government is not working in the interests of the people and it is a big stumbling block in the solution of the crisis of the state.”

However, besides senior leadership, hundreds of activists carrying party flags attended the mass rally amid pro-party slogans.

Meanwhile tight security arrangements were made in the winter  capital.
