Serpentine queues of fans had been formed since as early as 6 am as the sale of tickets for the March 30 semifinal at PCA stadium began on Monday. The first semifinal is to be played in .
The PCA stadium did play host to two league games but there were almost no takers for tickets for these low-key matches. It was an altogether different story on Monday though, and one reason perhaps was that many feel if India were to win their quarterfinal tie against Australia on March 24th, it could well play its semifinal at PCA on March 30th.
While the VIP Block tickets cost Rs 1000, the chair block tickets have been put at Rs 500 and students can get tickets for Rs 250. Besides PCA counters, tickets are available at various Branches of Central Bank of India like in sector 70 Mohali and Sectors 15, 23 and 32 in Chandigarh and Sector 10 in Panchkula from 10 am to 5 pm.
Organisers say 14,000 tickets are on sale but the disappointed fans who could not get tickets had a different story to tell. Some also alleged that the police had grabbed some tickets.
The PCA stadium is arguably one of the best in the country, but the sale of tickets has always been a contentious issue here too. On Day 1, that stood out.
