Police today announced a reward of Rs 50,000 for anyone who provides information on the identity of the woman whose body was parcelled to Ajmer from Delhi or those behind her murder. The announcement of the reward came as the police remained clueless about the identity of the woman, aged around 25 years, whose body was parcelled to Ajmer from Milap Transport Roadlines from Lahori Gate on April two.
“Commissioner B K Gupta has announced a cash reward of Rs 50,000 for anyone who may give any information about female dead body inside the iron box or render any help in identifying the deceased and person(s) involved in the case,” a senior police official said. Two days ago, police had released the sketch of a suspect who allegedly booked a parcel which contained a woman’s body. The body was parcelled by Milap Transport Roadlines from Lahori Gate to its branch in Kishangarh in Ajmer by an unidentified person. The sender has identified himself as ‘B’ and it has to be received by himself.
The body was discovered by workers of the transportation company on April 8 in their Ajmer office after foul smell started emanating from the parcel. “Public at large is hereby informed that on April 2 at about 7:45 PM a person had sent an iron box containing a dead body of woman aged about 25-30 year to Kishan Garh (Rajasthan) from Milap Transport, Pili Kothi, in the jurisdiction of PS Lahori Gate Delhi. More families approached police after seeing media reports about the woman’s body to check whether the victim was in anyway related to them. However, nobody could identify her so far, the official said.
The post mortem of the victim has already been conducted and it is believed that she was first drugged and then stabbed to death. After a family from Jalandhar which approached police told that the victim was not related to them, the official said police traced their daughter in Samalkha in Haryana’s Sonepat last night along with her friend. The family had alleged that she was murdered by her in-laws and her body disposed off. Police are also now planning to go for DNA tests to ascertain the identity of the woman. Investigators, meanwhile, stepped up their efforts to identify the person who booked the parcel to Ajmer. Police said they were trying to locate the rickshaw puller who brought the body to the parcel office. A Rajasthan Police team is camping for investigations while Delhi Police is assisting them. “The transportation company was negligent in handling the parcel. They have not entered the name of the sender and receiver properly in its register,” the official said.
