With the golden treasure safely stashed in the deep cellars, the Sree Padmanabhaswamy temple in Kerala, has emerged as the richest religious place of worship in the world. Heaps of gold, silver, emerald, rubies, diamonds, other precious stones and ornaments have been unearthed from the temple’s
vaults. While the high-profile search to find the hidden treasures underneath the cellars of the temple is still on, the current value of the golden find is estimated to be more than Rs 1,00,000 crore.
This discovery of the largest-ever treasure has sparked off a debate: who does this wealth belong to? Should the government have the right to decide the disposition of the money or the temple administration? And, can it be put to some good use?
That’s what we find out in Prime Debate tonight.
