The Sehajdhari Sikh Party also known as Sehajdhari Sikh Federation a registered Political Party with the Election Commission of Inda has also jumped into the poll fray by releasing its first list of 21 candidates of the party.The National President of the party Dr.P.S.Ranu stated that the party has contested a long legal battle to revive the voting right of the Sehajdhari Sikhs in the SGPC elections which was snatched away by the SAD Badal led SGPC through a notification issued by the then BJP led NDA Government in 2003.
Dr.Ranu stated that as per the latest population census 2011 there are 1.74 crore Sikhs in Punjab where only 55 lakh were enrolled by the Gurudwara Election Commission as Sikh voters in the SGPC elections and if deducting 50 lakh as minors and non eligible, still the pending 70 lakh Sikhs have been deprived of their voting right by declaring them as patits and sehajdharis. Now it’s the time that these 70 lakh sikhs will definitely show their strength and vote against the Badals to show their agony as these Akalis seek votes from them as a faith for the Panth during the general elections, but declare them non panthics and patits in the SGPC elections. Dr.Ranu said that options for support to those who support the cause of sehajdharis is open till last.
As per the first list the contesting candidates are Ex Sarpanch Harmander Singh @ Pappu Chaksherewala from Lambi, Gurmail Singh from Muktsar, Smt.Harbans Kaur Garewal from Ludhiana (West), Baba jasbir singh Chahal from Ludhiana(Atamnagar), Jagtar Singh @Jagga Hissowal from Raikot (SC), Advocate Ranjit Singh Jhammat from Jagraon (SC), Dr.Balwant Dhaliwal from Kharar, Ms.Amandeep Bhullar from Banur, Makkhan Singh from Mallout(SC), Sukhmander Singh Sandhu from Barnala, J.S.Bhatti from Fatehgarh Sahib, Paramjit Singh from Amargarh, Sunil Kumar from Sahnewal, Harjinder Singh Bring from Jalandhur Cantt, Manjeet Singh Sanghera from Batala, Dr.Heera Singh from Kadian, Shingara Singh from Mehalkalan, Rajinder Singh Ball from Mohali, Gurmit Singh from Moga,Harsimranjit Singh from Beas and Paramjit Singh Sitara from Baba Bakala.
