After being denied an election symbol for the forthcoming municipal polls by the Punjab Chief Election Officer, People’s Party of Punjab said it would approach the Election Commission.
“Ignoring our requests, the State Chief Election Officer has not allotted election symbol to PPP for the municipal elections,” party chief Manpreet Singh Badal told reporters.
“I fail to understand the logic behind the move of the officer,” he added.
The PPP leader said that party would raise the issue before the Election Commission.
The Punjab Election Commission on May 21 issued notification for holding elections to municipal councils, nagar panchayats and by-polls to certain wards of various urban local bodies. The elections will be held on June 7.
