Police mess opens in Panchkula

To provide cheap accommodation and food to its lower staff, the Haryana Police today opened a mess in Panchkula Police Lines. This first of its kind initiative would be followed in the rest of the districts too.

Haryana Police DGP Ranjeev Dalal on Tuesday inaugurated a mess for lower rank officials at the Police Lines in Panchkula.  The four-room building will be increased to seven in the next few months. The facility would be offered in all the district headquarters. In the first phase, however, such rest houses would be opened in Gurgaon, Faridabad, Karnal, Rohtak and Hisar.

One of the major reasons behind opening the first mess in Panchkula was the frequent trips made to the Punjab and Haryana High Court by police officials. How beneficial it would prove would become clear in the days to come.
