Haryana Power Utilities met highest ever power demand of 6,702 MW yesterday and supplied 1,416.78 lakh units of electricity to the consumers in the state. Earlier on June 27, the state had met maximum load requirement of 6,535 MW.
The record is likely to be bettered today as the transmission and distribution system is capable to meet the load requirement, an official spokesman said.
The utilities had supplied 1,284.26 lakh units of electricity on July 5 last year.Thus, the utilities on the same day of this year supplied 132.52 lakh more units of power, which is 10.32 per cent extra as compared to the corresponding day of last year.
On an average, about 1,250 lakh units of power were supplied daily during the first five days of July and the power supply position will be much better in the coming days.
The state has also arranged 200 MW additional power from West Bengal through banking arrangement.In all, 800 MW power has been arranged through banking arrangements, the spokesman said.
Utilities are in touch with various quarters to arrange power on short term basis as well as through power exchange to meet the requirement of electricity consumers.
Power department had to face the wrath of people at several areas in Haryana due to erratic power supply in the state.
