The ‘Atal Adarsh Gram Puruskar Yojna’ would be launched on the Independence day to honour the panchayats for outstanding work, Chief Minister P K Dhumal said .
The the panchayat adjudged the best would be given Rs. 20 lakh while panchayats adjudged the best at divisional and district levels would be given cash awards of Rs 10 lakh and Rs 5 lakh each, he said.
Speaking at state-level function to give ‘Nirmal Gram Puruskar” to 323 gram panchayats for excellent work in cleanliness, Dhumal said Rs. 2.66 crore would be spent on these awards.
The Chief Minister said every family should not only have their own toilet to keep the environment healthy and clean but should also use it and make the village open defecation-free.
