Flash floods have caused havoc in Manali in Himachal Pradesh, while one person’s body has been recovered several are feared dead.Besides government property worth 8 crore rupees, several houses, vital bridges and large stretches of roads have been washed away, cutting off areas beyond Manali from the rest of the state. Affected villages have been left without water and electricity.
Two bailey bridges constructed by Border Roads Organisation have also been swept away.People living along Nehru Kund, Palchan and Bhang villages have been asked to move to safer places and relief operations are in full swing. Traffic on Chandigarh-Manali and Mandi-Pathankot highways has been restored.Meanwhile, Uttarakhand too has been affected by incessant rains, 31 people have died and at least 40 are feared missing in the flash floods that hit Uttarkashi on Friday night.
