HC directs Centre, State & UGC to decide

On Wednesday the Punjab and Haryana High Court asked the Union of India, the State of Punjab and the University Grants Commission to take a decision on constituting a body to look into the affairs of educational trusts and societies, along with non-government institutions dealing with education.

The bench also directed the respondents to decide the representations filed in this regard by Dinesh Chadha,ex- coordinator of the Punjab unit of the National Student Union of India. Chadha added after pursual of the balance sheets of some universities and private institutions; it has come into his knowledge that there are infringements in the accounts. Chadha added that he had made representations to the authorities’ concerned institutions for bringing the infringements to the notice of the respondents and to take necessary action. But, not even a single step was taken.
