Jagir Kaur out on parole
After spending four months in jail, former Punjab cabinet minister Jagir Kaur has been given parole for four weeks Bibi Jagir Kaur is serving a five-year sentence at the Kapurthala Central Jail for forcing her daughter Harpreet Kaur to abort, which later died under mysterious circumstances.
A Central Bureau of Investigation (special court in Patiala on March 30 this year had sentenced Bibi Jagir Kaur to five years of rigorous imprisonment on counts of forcible abortion, wrongful confinement, abduction and criminal conspiracy. She was, however, been absolved of the charges of murdering her daughter, Harpreet Kaur, 19, who died 12 years ago.
