Protest rally by CITU in Punjab against Maruti workers’ dismissal

Protest rallies and demonstrations were organised today in various parts of Punjab by CITU against the dismissal of 500 workers by Maruti at its Manesar plant.

CITU Punjab General Secretary Ranghunath Singh accused the management of “vindictive” attitude towards workers. He also accused the management of indulging in unfair labour practices. It also held the Haryana government responsible for violent incident at the plant. CITU demanded that dismissal of 500 workers by Maruti be withdrawn. Protest rallies were held at Ludhiana, Raiokot, Sangrur, Barnala, Mansa, Ropar, Hoshiarpur, Gurdaspur, Bathinda, Nangal, Kotkapoora, Patiala, Fatehgarh Sahib and Chandigarh.
