BJP, Congress workers clash in Solan; few injured

Congress and BJP workers fought over the inauguration of a hospital in Kandaghat, near Solan, today.

When former Health Minister Rajiv Bindal arrived at the scene, he found a group of Congress activists raising slogans against the Prem Kumar Dhumal Government.  The Congress workers demanded that Bindal not be allowed to inaugurate the hospital, infuriating the BJP workers.

The situation soon turned ugly as a few members of the two groups exchanged fistcuffs. The police managed to flee Bindal from the ramaping mob but not before he was manhandled. The police finally brought the situation under control
