In its preparation for the Himachal assembly polls, scheduled in November, a team of senior BJP leaders today discussed and cleared the names of three dozen party candidates.
After the approval from BJP’s state election committee, the list would be forwarded to national election committee for the final consent. A meeting attended by Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal, party’s national vice president Shanta Kumar and general secretary J P Nadda was held to discuss the candidates on 68 assembly seats of Himachal.
There was no problem in deciding candidates on three dozen constituencies but no consensus could be reached on some seats as the party seniors had different views, BJP’s state chief Satpal Satti said. The final list of BJP candidates is likely to be released by September end, Satti said.
