Maloya goes to the polls on September 15 to elect its MC Representative. Three are in the by-election fray including the daughter-in-law of the councilor whose death necessitated the by-election.
Campaigning for the Municipal Corporation by-election is in full swing in Maloya. This area constitutes MC Ward Number 7. Voters go to the polls on September 15. The by-election has been necessitated by the death of the ward’s representative, Lakshmi Devi. On May 3rd of this year she succumbed to injuries sustained in a car accident. She was a member of the BJP.
Contesting the by-election for the BJP is Bindu Rana, daughter-in-law of Lakshmi Devi. The Bahujan Samaj Party candidate is Seema Yadav and the Congress has put up Poonam Sharma. Both Bindu Rana and Seema Yadav are Maloya residents while Poonam Sharma is a resident of Dhanas. The candidates have been going door-to-door throughout Maloya and all three are confident of victory.
The BJP candidate Bindu Rana is banking on local goodwill for her late mother-in-law. She repeatedly tells the voters that if elected she will complete the projects that the late Lakshmi Devi began.
On Sunday the BSP has planned a massive rally to promote its candidate, Seema Yadav. The BSP will have to struggle to make inroads against the Congress and the BJP.
