Residents of Nada Sahib Village have appealed to the Panchkula Administration to take steps to prevent the Ghaggar from bursting its banks and flooding their homes. During past monsoon seasons, the Ghaggar has wrought huge destruction on localities around Nada Sahib. Moreover, a number of choes flow into the Ghaggar in the stretch between Nada Sahib and Mubarakpur.
These small streams become torrents after even moderate rains. The Administration has assured that it will build stabilize the river bank with a retaining wall. Panchkula Deputy Commissioner Ashima Barar said that work on the wall will begin in a week. She said the wall would protect the village from flash floods coming down the choes. Earlier, flood waters have often swept away homes in the village. For now, the people of Nada Sahib can only hope that the rains ease off and the Panchkula Administration keeps its promise.
