Nokia launches 2 new Asha models

Finnish handset major Nokia is keen to take its popular Asha range of mobile phones across the globe as the company today introduced two new models.

The company currently retails high-end smartphones under the Lumia range to over 100 countries. “We have not gone globally (through Asha range of Phones)”, Nokia India, Regional General Manager (South) T S Sridhar said unveiling dual sim Asha 308 (Rs 6,149) and single sim Asha 309 (Rs 6,349) mobile phones today coinciding with their first anniversary. According to company officials, the company has planned to take the Asha range of phones, manufactured at its plant in Sriperumbudur near, to over 100 countries.

PTI VIJ VS ****** ‘Wind Energy can eventually be major power generating option’ *Investing in wind energy as a source to generate power would not only help supplement conventional power initially, but could eventually become a major power generating option, according to experts. “Latest reassessments have predicted over three lakh MW of power through wind option,even on a conservative approach,” G M Pillai, Director General of Pune-based World Institute of Sustainable Energy told reporters.

“Even if only wasteland and not farmlands were used for installing wind mills, a minimum of 35000 MW of power can be obtained,” he said. While initially wind option can supplement conventional power, it can eventually become an efficient option over time, another expert said. He also said investments in the sector could reach Rs 30,000 crore per year. PTI DSJ APR ******* Wendt (India) Q2 net profit declines at Rs 3.42 cr Chennai, Oct 26 (PTI) Wendt (India), a joint venture between Wendt GmbH of Germany and Carborundum Universal of Chennai-based Murugappa Group, today reported a decline in its consolidated net profits at Rs 3.42 crore for the second quarter ended September 30, 2012.

Consolidated net profits of the company stood at Rs 6 crore during the corresponding period of last year, Wendt (India) said in a statement. The consolidated total income for the second quarter ending September 30, 2012 slumped to Rs 25.74 crore from Rs 30.33 crore registered during the same period of last year. PTI VIJ APR ******* Govt approves repatriation of C&PC Secretary K Jose Cyriac New Delhi, Oct 26 (PTI) The government today approved repatriation of Chemicals and Petrochemicals (C&PC) Secretary K Jose Cyriac to his parent cadre, Kerala.

Cyriac is a 1977 batch Indian Administrative Services (IAS) officer from the state. “The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the repatriation of Secretary, Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals K Jose Cyriac to his cadre,” an official statement said today. Cyriac will take over as the Chief Secretary of Kerala on his return.
