Sukhbir reviews progress of National Highway projects

The National Highway between Chandigarh and Ludhiana is all set to be eight-laned with the Union government giving its nod for execution of the project.

This was informed by representatives of the National Highways Authority of India to Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal, an official spokesman said.

The representatives met Sukhbir to review the progress of ongoing National Highway projects in the state, he said.

They said the Union Surface Transport Ministry had given in-principle approval for the eight-laned project, the spokesman said.

At a high-level meeting, the Deputy Chief Minister reviewed the progress of ongoing National Highway projects.

He fixed timelines for completion of each project, the spokesman said.

The Deputy Chief Minister would coordinate with Army authorities for acquisition of 400-km of land at Jalandhar for six-laning of NH-1.

Reviewing the progress of 6-laning of Jalandhar-Dhilwan section, the Jalandhar DC was asked to sort out compensation issue, the spokesman said.
