The Chandigarh police paid tributes to their compatriots who laid down their lives in the line of duty. Contingents of the Haryana and Chandigarh police participated in the parade.
The Chandigarh Police observed Police Martyrdom Day at the Sector 17 Police Station in memory of their martyrs. The parade was held in memory of the valiant officers and men of the paramilitary forces who laid down their lives in counter-insurgency operations.
Contingents of the Chandigarh and Haryana Police participated in the parade and paid homage by reversing arms. The country has been observing October 21 as Police Martyrdom Day since 1959. On this day, a small contingent of the Indian police was attacked by Chinese troops, in which 10 jawans were killed. UT DIG Alok Kumar read out the names of 574 officers and jawans who lost their lives in the line of duty last year.
DIG Alok kumar said it is the moral responsibility of everyone concerned to make sure that the sacrifice of police officials and jawans of the paramilitary forces is honored.
