Officials collect samples of sweets in Sec-38 Chandigarh
On Thursday teams from the UT Health Department inspected sweet shops in Sector 38 and collected samples for testing.
Over the coming two weeks officers of the department will visit every sweetshop in Chandigarh as well as units where sweets are prepared. Food Safety Officer Bharat Kanujia explained that the Food Safety and Standards Act provides for a maximum punishment of life imprisonment and a penalty of up to Rs 10 lakh for selling adulterated food stuffs.
